WASHINGTON 鈥� Today, in response to President Trump鈥檚 inauguration, ABIC Executive Director Rebecca Shi issued the following statement:
鈥淧resident Trump ran on a promise of lowering inflation, promoting U.S. economic competitiveness and safeguarding our national security. While it鈥檚 past time for Washington to address our broken immigration system, we need to make sure our businesses, hardworking employees and consumers do not suffer in the process. Achieving both economic growth and security聽 requires a practical immigration strategy that prioritizes safety while recognizing the significant contributions immigrants make to our businesses, economy and communities.聽
鈥淎merica鈥檚 construction, agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality and technology industries rely on immigrants to sustain their workforces. ABIC and our coalition of more than 1,700 business leaders from around the country are calling on the Trump administration to put America鈥檚 economy and communities first by securing our borders and removing dangerous criminals, while also remembering聽 the significant contributions of immigrant workers, Dreamers and spouses of U.S. citizens. These individuals help drive America鈥檚 economy, keep costs down for consumers and strengthen our communities.
