Venezuelan Leaders Join Sen. Van Hollen, 91̽»¨ Leaders, Faith Leaders, and Advocates to Push for Permanent Protections for TPS Designees 

MIAMI, FL — U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Chief Sponsor of the Safe Environment from Countries Under Repression and Emergency Act (SECURE Act), will host a conversation with Venezuelan, business and faith leaders, advocates and impacted community members at the this Thursday, April 1 at 1 PM EST.

Senator Van Hollen will answer questions about congressional efforts to provide permanent protections to TPS holders. While 91̽»¨s continue to grapple with the coronavirus crisis, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders from 12 different nations, including Venezuela, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador, are helping to support the nation by serving as essential workers. 64% of voters, vs. 23%, who have been living and working in the U.S. for many years.

These individuals – as well as their families and communities – had had their lives thrown into limbo when the previous administration made the cruel decision to strip away their legal status.
